First Classin' It Up

You guys, first class is the way to go. I did everything I could to indulge. I ate salted nuts and a dinner of ravioli and salad (real good, actually) and warm chocolate chip cookies. I drank 3 glasses of wine and iced water (duh) and Bailey's and coffee. I watched two movies on a free digi-player! It was the best! I felt like I was in my living room the entire time. I only took one photo from the sky:

This was also a weekend of selfies. I took SO MANY SELFIES. My grandparents now know how to take selfies! Here's just a few:

These two (front & center) have been married for 60 years!

Three generations. So much love.

In honor of our trip to Africa (we're leaving on Friday!), this week is devoted to animal prints. This is my pick for today:

Rawr! I need a haircut.
It feels like summerrrrrrrrrrrrr!

60 Years

Lace week comes to an end for me today as I am traveling to Green Bay, Wisconsin tomorrow for my grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary. I feel so happy to be spending the weekend with my family and I am delighted to proclaim that (in a weird, yet thrilling twist of Delta SkyMiles member fate) I will be flying first class on the way back to Seattle. My first brush with an upgraded class is likely to be completely exhilarating! I'll be sure to report back on Monday. Happy early weekend!

Day 2 of lace week looks like this:

Can you tell my lipstick matches my shoes?!

This thrift store top was a whopping $6

Lace Week

You guys, so many things happened this weekend!

First of all, ropes course:

Jason's first blog appearance

40 feet down

Looking classy (but safe!) in a helmet

Then, wedding dress shopping with a friend:

A sunset last night:

And a pretty sky this morning (including a little peak of my building):

And lace week! (And my new favorite tee shirt)

It actually says "Donut Talk To Me" but I tucked in.

The skirt is lace. Duh.

Byyyyyyye. For now.

Mint, Caramel, and Sunsets

Today was a day of many parts.

Part 1) Let's discuss my outfit for the last day of statement piece week. I chose a caramel colored sheath dress with a mint green necklace and a pony tail. It was a bit of a wild card when I decided on it this morning, but it turned out to be a good (albeit fairly unexpected) combo. Surprisingly, mint green and caramel look classy together. Who knew?

Posing like cray

How do you make a ponytail look good in a selfie?

Part 2) I received a lovely thank you gift today from a dear friend who loves lipstick. And whaddya know? She gave me lipstick!

Part 3) I had to try the lipstick.

In the one of me smiling, I had really blurry eyes.

Part 4) The sunset was beautiful tonight.

Happy Weekend!

I mean it when I say suspenders are coming back into style. Admittedly, they're not the most comfortable thing to wear when you're drinking a lot of water (bathroom breaks are more complicated when you have to unhook yourself each time), but it's really fun to snap them and act like a classy broad.

Peace Officer Love

I did a really interesting thing this afternoon; I saw a good friend graduate from the Police Academy of Washington State. She's going to be a police (or peace, as they called it today) officer in Seattle and I'm super proud of her. She's a total bad ass! I wanted to wear a dress to the ceremony, so I chose this black hi-lo jersey dress for it's comfort and practicality. And because it's statement week, I went for a boho chic look and wore it with beachy waves and a soft turban headband.

Love the minimalistic floral motif!

Light Pink Fluff

For the second day of statement piece week, I chose a neutral palate with a standout necklace. Gray heels with feminine rosettes ground the outfit. Tucking in the blouse gives me a longer, leaner leg line.

The Roaring '20s

A good friend of mine had a 30th birthday party this weekend and the theme was Roaring '20s. Another friend and I decided to get ready together; sometimes, half the fun of the party is glamming up for it!

Before the wig placement
The finished look
"Hey cookie, a little party never killed nobody."
"Awww, that's my friend, Tootsie. She's a real swell old bird!"
"Hey doll, can you spot me a few clams for another cigarette?"

Alright, enough of that sass. This week's wardrobe theme is statement piece, so we're all building our wardrobe around one or two pieces that really stand out. I created this outfit around the headband (which you can barely see, ironically) and the necklace is a pretty dynamite piece as well. Basically, it's just an excuse to wear all of our accessories!
