A few months ago, Jason's brother accepted a new position as an elementary school principal in Port Angeles, Washington. They moved in June and we haven't yet been out there to visit, so we took a little road trip this weekend and stayed at their place for a few days. It was super fun! The weather was beautiful, their boys are adorable, the food and company was just lovely.

Speaking of new positions, Jason just accepted a new job at Amazon! We are completely overwhelmed and absolutely thrilled at this new opportunity! Jason decided he wanted to leave the field of teaching last January after 4 difficult years as a middle school educator. He took a risk and left his contract in Tacoma School District after the 2013-2014 school year and has been looking for a job since July. In August, he got word of an opening at Amazon and applied through a friend. He did exceptionally well on 2 phone interviews and was presented with the chance to interview in-person, an opportunity that only about 10% of people who phone interview are offered. The in-person interview was grueling: 4 hours, 6 people, 14 leadership principles, one 15-minute break. In his words, he totally killed it! A week later, the recruiter offered him the job: Inside sales for Amazon Kindle Education Organization. Essentially, he'll be selling Kindle hardware and software in bulk to school districts and other enterprise. It's a perfect transition!! He is so, so pleased. We are both reeling! It's likely that he will start in about 2 weeks. I'm so proud!
So, we celebrated in Port Angeles and we will continue the celebration this week (hopefully with a manicure, pedicure, and steak dinner, if you ask me what I want to do). And here's what I wore this weekend:
